The Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model is a next-generation mesoscale numerical weather prediction system designed to serve both atmospheric research and operational forecasting needs (www.wrf-model.org). The model serves a wide range of meteorological applications across scales ranging from meters to thousands of kilometers. The configuration for the HygrA-CD campaign will include an external grid covering most of Europe and N. Africa and two nested grids as seen in the figure. The resolution of the model domains are 18x18 km, 6x6 km and 2x2 km for the external, intermediate and inner domains respectively.
