At the chemistry lab of "Demokritos" several characterization processes are possible:

1. Measurements of the exact mass concentration of filters using an analytical scientific balance.
2. Determination of metals Pb, V, Ni, Mn, Cu, Fe and Al using a spectrophotometer of atomic absorption Varian 220 with an electro heating oven made by graphite GTA 110 and equipped with an automated sampler.
3. X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer for heavy metals analysis. A fully integrated X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometer, the Epsilon 5 combines advanced elemental excitation capabilities with sophisticated instrument control and analytical software. 
4. Ion-exchange chromatography.
5. Organic Carbon and Elementary Carbon Analysis.
